FAQ

Approximately 7-8 questions are asked in introductory part of IELTS speaking where first 3-4 are usually about personal information of the candidate such as name , hometown , work or qualification and rest of the questions are regarding individual preferences from topics about  cafes , food , clothes to name a few.
No, it is not there, but test-takers must be aware about the nature of this introductory part which demands a formal yet a complete information in approximately 3 -4 sentences.
It is assessed on the basis of four parameters : Fluency and Coherency , Pronunciation , Grammatical Range and Accuracy and Lexical Resources each holds the weightage of band 9.
It  would affect  the parameter of Fluency and coherency accordingly .Since this is just an introductory part of speaking where question are asked purely on the basis of individual perspective ,and not on general knowledge so chances of having no answer do not appear commonly.
It is not advised because fluency of the test –takers cannot be assessed on the basis of answers like Yes / No , so  there must be a brief reasoning behind such answers.
