IELTS Letter – Model Answer 1
Dear Manager,
I am writing to say a sincere thanks for considering and offering me the job opportunity. I am really happy and excited about the opportunity you offered me to join the team and contribute towards the success of the organisation.
However, I would like to inform you that It would not be possible for me to start next week as previously discussed. I was wondering if it would be possible to delay my start date for another two weeks. I understand that this may cause inconvenience and I apologize for any trouble this may cause.
I would be happy to discuss any alternative arrangements that would be suitable for both parties. I am fully committed to the job and I assure you that I will make every effort to make up for the delay in starting.
Thank you for considering my request. I am eager to start and I hope that we can work together to find a mutually acceptable solution.

IELTS Letter – Model Answer 2
Dear Sir,
I'm writing to thank you for contacting me about the position, which has always piqued my curiosity. I want to start by expressing that I am incredibly glad and excited about getting the chance to work for your firm and contribute to its success.
But before I can begin working for you, I have an obligation from my prior position that I must fulfil. However, I will be unable to begin my new employment with your organisation as scheduled the following week due to a work commitment from my prior employer.
I thus ask that my start date with your company be delayed by two weeks. I am completely aware that this would inconvenience you, but I sincerely hope that you will consider my situation. I can definitely make sure that I am committed to starting work as soon as possible and to making a valuable contribution to the company.
I believe that my skills and experience will be a good fit for the role, and I am eager to start working with the team. Thank you for considering my request. I am looking forward to your response and to the opportunity to join your team.
Sincerely,
Angela Johnson

IELTS Letter – Model Answer 3
Dear Sir or Madam.
It is an amazing honour for me to learn from your email that you have officially finalised my executive hiring with your business. I see it as a significant step toward my future career, and I will give my position my all. However, I'm writing to ask for your approval to push out the joining date.
I'm sorry, but I am unable to start on June 15 as you had anticipated. I officially informed my present job a month ago, and they were supportive of my choice. They have, however, most recently asked for a longer period of time so they may train a colleague and take over the projects I am now working on.
With my current employer, I've already committed to a project that will take me another week to complete. I am therefore forced to continue working with them for another two weeks by my manager's new request. I thus ask that my joining date be postponed, and I am quite certain that I will begin working for you on July 1.
I'm hoping you'll let me finish up my contract with the present employer so I can start working for your company on July 1.
Yours Faithfully,
Daren Smith
IELTS Letter – Model Answer 4
Dear Madam,
I am writing in reply to the job that has been offered to me by your organisation. I would be extremely happy and grateful for the chance you have provided me to join your team and accept the offer. However, I have a commitment that I need to fulfill in the upcoming two weeks, and it requires my full attention to be completed.
Therefore, I would like to request you if it is possible to move forward my start date with your organisation by three weeks so that I can complete my task. I completely understand that this may result in some inconvenience, but I would like to reassure you that I will try my best to complete my delayed tasks once I start with your company.
I am eager to contribute my skills and enthusiasm to the company, and I believe that this small delay will not impact my ability to do so. I would like to express my deep appreciation for your understanding in this matter. I am looking forward to the opportunity to join your team and I am confident that I will be a valuable asset.
I will make every effort to ensure a smooth transition and I am available to discuss any further details or arrangements. Thank you again for the opportunity and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Best regards,
Joanne Smith
