The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a standardized test that assesses non-native English speakers' English skills. It is usually necessary for entrance to English-speaking universities and other academic institutions, as well as for professional certification and immigration. The exam has four sections: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Each segment is scored independently, and the points are then added together to create an overall score. The exam is available in both an internet-based (iBT) and paper-based version (PBT).
