IELTS Speaking part 1

Provided here are some Part 1 questions that the examiner may ask you in Speaking Part 1.

• Do you enjoy travelling?

Yes, I enjoy travelling. It's a fantastic chance to discover various cultures and have fresh experiences. Traveling and learning about different cultures allow me to step beyond of my comfort zone. Additionally, it provides me the chance to forge new relationships with individuals from all over the world and develop new memories. Additionally, travelling gives me the chance to unwind and rejuvenate, which is necessary for preserving a positive work-life balance. 

• Have you ever been on a long journey?

Yes, I've taken a few long trips in the past. Backpacking around Uttrakhand was one of my most cherished extended trips. I spent several weeks travelling throughout the state, sleeping in hostels and camping along the route. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to discover lovely cities, get to know new people, and become immersed in the culture. Even though it was occasionally difficult, it was worth it. I'll always cherish the insights and experiences I received from the journey.

• What is your favorite place you have ever visited?

Rajasthan is probably my favorite place I've ever been to. The people, cuisine, and scenery are all amazing. In Rajasthan, there is a striking contrast between the old and the new. While the cities were bustling and full of vitality, the temples and shrines were calm and beautiful. Additionally, Rajasthanis were exceedingly warm and hospitable. I enjoyed trying all of the different dishes because the food was so delicious. I too had a great time touring the forts. I would say it was a memorable event for me, and if given a chance to go there again I'd want to go back.

• Do you prefer to travel alone or with a group?

It depends on the reason for which I want to travel . Both travelling alone and travelling in a group have advantages and drawbacks that are particular to them. When travelling alone, the individual has greater freedom and flexibility and can go at their own pace. Additionally, it enables deeper internal contemplation and introspection. On the other side, going on a trip in a group can be more exciting and enjoyable because it promotes greater social contact and the sharing of experiences. Additionally, it can offer comfort and support in strange environments. A person's preferences and the particulars of the journey will ultimately determine whether they prefer to travel alone or in a group.

• How do you usually plan your holidays?

I take help from various sites and organizations that help withtravel.  There are many Travel influencers who provide a detailed guide on when the right time to travel is, hacks to save money on tickets and other important details. Once when I get an idea of my itinerary and other important details, I go for booking. I make sure I have a safe and pleasurable trip by being organized, doing my homework, and being flexible when I plan my vacations.

IELTS Speaking Part 2

In IELTS Speaking, you should concentrate on just one idea and then develop it using various grammatical structures and vocabulary into a lengthy, meaningful statement. So, to improve your IELTS Speaking score, try practicing this topic for Part 2 of the cue card!

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Travelling to historical locations usually broadens one's understanding. In actuality, this is how you learn about real-world situations. I, therefore, enjoy travelling and would like to share an experience from the time I went to Amritsar to see the Great historical places in the city.

It was my bachelors’ second year vacation when I went there to visit my cousin and his family. They took us to see many places. The city is historically rich. Amritsar, one of the cleanest cities, is well known for the Golden Temple, also known as the Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara - the most sacred Gurdwara. Guru-vaani may be heard emanating from the Gurudwaras. It is encircled by the holy Amrit Sarovar pond (water), where pilgrims take baths.

It was our first spot of the city we travelled and did all these along with the Jallianwala Bagh which is close to it. This location is well-known for being close to the Wagah Border. We got to see the famous parade. We clicked so many pictures there. Also well-known is the cuisine of Amritsar. A spell is further created on the guest by the filling cuisine and the abundant servings of famed Punjabi hospitality. Being foodies, we had to try that.

It is not just these, there are other things too like Durgyana temple, and different Museums that we covered during our stay there. The cherry on top was the siblings’ presence and the memories we all created.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 

Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask you concerning the above cue card topic during your speaking part 3.

• How has travel changed in the past few decades?

India has transformed, particularly in terms of travel, due to the country's expanding economy and population. Nowadays, people travel in order to post blogs, photos, or videos of their travels on social media. The means of transportation have significantly increased, making travel currently more affordable, cosy, and rapid. These days, content creators travel, collect items, and publish them on social media, which is amazing. Nowadays, travelling is so convenient that anyone may take a long vacation. Many people even make a living out of it.

• What kind of actions do you believe should be made to save the environment from the harm that tourism causes?

There are a number of actions that can be performed to safeguard the environment from the harm that tourism causes. One is to support eco-friendly hotels and encourage sustainable tourism activities, such as promoting the use of public transit. Another is to set a cap on how many people can visit certain regions in order to conserve resources. Efforts at conservation and replanting can also lessen the environmental impact of tourism.

• How do you think tourism can impact a country's economy?

The economy of a nation may be significantly impacted by tourism. Along with other businesses like transportation and retail, it can provide jobs in the hospitality and tourism industries. Additionally, tourism can increase a nation's economy by bringing in foreign revenue.

• How do you think technology has changed the way people plan and book their holidays?

The way individuals organise and reserve their holidays has been greatly impacted by technology. People may now quickly plan their travel and do their research online thanks to the increasing usage of mobile devices and the internet. People may now more easily compare costs and read reviews about various places and hotels thanks to online travel firms, social media platforms, and review websites. Tourists can now explore unfamiliar areas and find local activities more easily thanks to the usage of smartphone apps and GPS technology.

• How important do you think it is for tourists to learn about the culture and customs of the place they are visiting?

I think it is extremely important for tourists to learn about the culture and customs of the place they are visiting. Tourists might enjoy a more fulfilling and delightful trip if they are aware of the local culture and customs. Additionally, it can aid in avoiding misunderstandings or cultural gaffes. Tourists can better appreciate the distinctive legacy and history of the location they are visiting by learning about the local culture and customs.

• If you get a chance to travel to space, would you do that? Why/ Why not?

It would be wonderful. There is something so magical about it. Few people have ever had the opportunity to go on such wonderful travel. And if I'm the one that gets picked, I'll probably feel pretty proud of myself for going to the space.
