IELTS General is the exam for the candidates who wish to migrate to English speaking country for permanent settlement.There are few pointers which a candidate must know before appearing for the IELTS exam.

The exam tests a candidates ability to be able to understand English in an English speaking country.All the four components of the language are tested, i.e. listening ,reading writing and speaking.So if you are thinking of appearing for your IELTS exam ,make sure that your English skills are up to mark.

Before you take an exam date, brush up your English.Read as much as you can.Your reading scores would depend on your ability to comprehend the passages ,so try to read as much possible and try to increase your range of vocabulary, so that you are able to understand the reading passages easily.

Make sure that you are able to generate ideas while writing your letter and essay.Good band scores will depend upon your ideas in an essay or letters.Coherence and cohesion also is very important as, the ideas and the connectors must be used judiciously.Overuse of connectors will cut your marks .

Essays should have logical progression, your ideas must not be contradictory to what you have written in your preceding paragraphs.A logical flow, with a proper introduction, content and conclusion, will be able to fetch you a good band score.

Listening would require understanding of the listening transcripts, the words and numbers.For this, listen to English music, watch English series and movies.Train yourself to the English phonic sounds, stress intonation etc.

Speaking would require effortless speaking for 10 to 15 minutes.Higher range of vocabulary, fluency, pronunciation would help you to ace this exam with good band scores.
