Difference between Formal & Informal English for IELTS letter writing

IELTS letter writing is for economic class or an immigration visa for which the test is General Training. Letters are to be written in a specific manner, formal or informal English depending on the question asked and to whom it's addressed.

It is used when the letter is written to an authoritative figure or a person at a managerial post.
