The Exam Format
Both tests have different exam formats. The four skills of reading, listening, writing, and speaking are used to evaluate students. The exam duration for IELTS is 2 hours 45 minutes and TOEFL is 3 hours 15 minutes.
Methods and Results
IELTS tests can be taken on paper or online, whereas TOEFL tests can only be taken online. On the thirteenth day following the test, IELTS results are released, whereas TOEFL results are released on the tenth.
Consider the preference
Around the world, more than 9000 universities accept TOEFL results. The majority of the institutions surveyed for the United States said they favoured TOEFL scores over results from other English-language tests.
What Places Accept It
According to ETS, TOEFL is accepted in more than 11,500 colleges and universities in more than 160 nations. it is accepted everywhere in the US, whereas IELTS is accepted by more than 3,400 institutions in the US.
Results and difficulty levels
For the TOEFL, Scores range from 0-120, whilst IELTS students are awarded a band score between 0 and 9. The TOEFL is thought to have a higher degree of difficulty.
