New GMC Rules for IELTS
If you are a doctor planning to register in the UK, there is some good news this week: the GMC reported temporarily altering several IELTS and PLAB requirements in response to COVID.
According to the new rule change, you will have THREE YEARS until March 2023 to register with the GMC.
The bad news is that you will still need to demonstrate your English skills if you want to register with the GMC.
The good news is that the registration time has been extended. You had to register with the GMC BEFORE your IELTS certificate expired yesterday.
That implies you have only two years from the date of your IELTS exam to apply.
To be accepted by the GMC, you must score 7.5 in all four areas, with no less than a 7.0 in any testing area.
A Tier 2 General Visa requires a passing score of 4.0 overall in each of the four abilities.
