About the Exam
It is a Computer Based Test(Online) with a duration of 3 hours. The total number of papers in GATE 2023 will be 29.
Number & Types of Questions
It will have a total of 65 (including 10 questions from General Aptitude) questions with MCQs, MSQs and NATs.
Design of Questions
The questions are designed to test the ability of Application, Analysis, Comprehension, Recall and Synthesis.
Marking Scheme
The total marks are 100 with questions worth 1 or 2 marks.
Negative Marking MCQs
For 1st type 1 mark correct answer, 1/3rd mark is deducted for an incorrect answer. For 2 nd type, 2 marks for being correct, and 2/3 rd marks are deducted for an incorrect response.
Negative Marking MSQs and NATs
There is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs (Numerical Answer Types)
